At Mazuri Designs, we are dedicated to empowering young women by providing them with skills in sewing, tailoring, and fashion design, as well as offering employment opportunities. Despite the hardships, our Mazuri community is built on creativity, friendship, and joy. We help these women recognize their value and potential, offering guidance and space for growth.
Our year-long training program equips young women with the skills to operate and repair both manual and electric sewing machines, design clothing, interact with clients, and deliver excellent customer service, alongside essential business skills.

Supporting young women’s economic empowerment
In Uganda, where youth unemployment is high and many young women face poverty, early marriage, and limited education, Mazuri Designs empowers them with practical skills and dignified work. Through a year-long sewing, tailoring, and fashion design program, trainees learn machine operation and repair, clothing design, customer care, and business basics, alongside personal development and reproductive health. Many go on to start their own ventures or join our growing team, earning fair wages in safe working conditions. We source fabrics locally, honoring cultural heritage through vibrant Dutch wax prints. Each handcrafted piece reflects creativity, confidence, and the transformative impact of meaningful employment for young Ugandan women.
